Best Time to Visit Agra: Seasons and Planning Tips
Compare Agra’s cooler, hotter and monsoon seasons, then choose a visit time that suits your comfort, light and itinerary.

Understand the broad seasons
Many travellers prefer the cooler months, roughly from October through March, for walking between Agra’s monuments. This period can also bring busier dates and winter fog, which may affect visibility or travel. Conditions vary from year to year, so check a current forecast close to your trip.
Plan for heat, fog or rain
Late spring and early summer can be very hot, especially in the middle of the day. If you travel then, plan outdoor visits earlier, drink water and give yourself indoor or shaded breaks. The monsoon season brings humidity and rain that can change walking conditions and the feel of the gardens.
Choose a time of day that suits you
The right time of day depends on your priorities. Morning light, crowds, ticket availability and transport all matter; a sunrise plan is not automatically the best fit for every traveller. Check the Taj Mahal’s current opening schedule for your date, and remember that it is closed on Fridays.
Keep the schedule flexible
Leave breathing room around long-distance transfers and avoid stacking the most exposed walks into the hottest part of the day. Comfortable clothing, sun protection and a slower pace can make a bigger difference than adding another stop. If your dates are fixed, shape the route around the weather rather than trying to change the season.
